About HSF India

Civic Education & Women Empowerment Programmes with partner organisation ‘SIDART’ in the Indian state of Rajasthan

The foundation started its work in India in the year 1996. In its work, the foundation follows the same principles – “service of democracy, peace and development”. This includes strengthening human capacity while taking into account the social, political, cultural and economic conditions of the country. It focuses on helping people to help themselves.

Hanns Seidel Foundation works with local partner organisations with similar objectives on different topics. The focus areas are political dialogue, security, capacity building, women empowerment both socially and economically, strengthening the democratic and federal structures, local self- governance, promotion of victim and women safety in rural and urban spaces, environmental protection and water conservation.

On the ground level, the partner organisations execute the mandate of the foundation. The activities include seminars, workshops, conferences and exposure tours.

Additionally, the foundation’s office in India also organises international events to promote dialogue and exchange of ideas between decision makers, academicians, and scientists on topics like federalism or other international common concern like political, water, food, energy and human security both in India and South Asia.
