ECJP

The Ecumenical Centre for Justice and Peace

The Ecumenical Centre for Justice and Peace (ECJP) is a non-partisan ecumenical group of people from different religious convictions working for peace through justice. The Centre was formed by a group of people from different religious convictions to contribute to the enhancement of peace in the country through promotion of justice, democracy, good governance and respect for human rights. The centre was founded on 15th November 1995 and commenced its programme work in January 1996.

The centre aims to be the most effective and competent civic education provider institution in the country. Its founders envisioned an institution that would contribute to good governance and the democratization process, the promotion and protection of human rights, peace building and peaceful coexistence, in Kenya.

It is clear from the mission of ECJP that its core areas are in line with HSF's key project areas which are civic education and promotion of good governance. The foundation has worked with ECJP over the last fifteen years and has made a clear mark in the field of civic education. The mission and vision of ECJP is attained by carrying out activities such as civic education workshop based interventions, production and dissemination of relevant information, education and communication materials on issues of concern.

HSF has supported the production of various publications that have been effective in educating the masses on the governance process and how they can fully participate in it.
