President Hage Geingob’s first 100 days in Office

The moderator of the discussion, Ms. Nangula Shejavali, Research Associate from the IPPR set the stage on the relevance of the dialogue by stating that critics say that the timing of such an intervention is too early as a means to assess the success of any president. She however maintained that it is essential that citizens hold their leaders accountable because it is their democratic right. Assessing a Presidents 100 days in office is no exception to the process.

The panel discussion consisted of Ms. Gwen Lister the founding Editor of the Namibian Newspaper, Political Commentator Mr. Phanuel Kaapama and Business leader Mr. Joahnnes !Gawaxab.

The panelists centred their anlysis f the 100 days of the President on providing insights  into key messages from the President’s previous public speecehes on national issues as well as introspect on various projects implement in the 100 days since the President took office. This panel discussion was an opportunity for Namibian citizens to engage the panelists on their analysis whilst also provide input on the 100 days of the President in office. 

Collaborating on such a vital intervention was essential to the HSF as it was in line with one of its objectives “to encourage socio-political dialogue in Namibia: by enabling dialogue on current issues with policy makers, civil society, the media and generic public.

The event was live streamed via the website of the Namibian newspaper uploaded onto social media such as YouTube, twitter and Facebook for viewing.
