On the 26th and 27th of January the Hanns Seidel Foundation supported an Outreach Federalism and Peace Dialogue together with the Centre for Development and Ethnic Studies (CDES) in Loikaw, Kayah State at the Friendship Hotel.

The outreach workshop was supported by the international expert Dr. Soren Keil from the Canterbury Christ Church University (United Kingdom) and the local experts Aung Soe Min (HSF) and Ko Asang (CDES).

The participants were members of local CSOs, youth groups, members of political parties and ethnic (armed) organizations who were interested in federalism and federal reforms. The experts delivered theoretical knowledge about federalism, institutions, the constitution and distribution of competences.

Participants felt the need to further discuss the differences between the 2008 constitutions and changes that were made later in the Schedules 2 and 5, which describe the distribution of powers in the Myanmar political system. Throughout the workshop there were many fruitful discussions. The conducted role plays were also well received by the participants.
